‘It’s more fun being a KKTK’
The 3rd KKTKsg Annual Assembly

The Philippines’s department of tourism has a new slogan to draw more tourists to visit our country—It’s more fun in the Philippines.
In this side of the world, I daresay (with a lot of confidence in our preachers and with help from God) it’s more fun being single/unattached/unmarried or more appropriately, Kapisanan ng mga Kabataan Tungo sa Kasakdalan. I’m shameless and why on earth not? We can’t be any prouder because Bro Eli, sent by God, is a no-nonsense preacher.
This year’s attendance was notably fewer than the last (and it has quite the tendency to make at least one KKTK sickly during assemblies such as this, hmm) and though it’s sad that a lot of them couldn’t make it because of working shifts, it did not dampen the spirits of those who decided that “it’s more fun at the locale and being with the rest of the KKTK than anywhere else not related to work”. I had to make the “work” thing clear. Hehe. And this is not because we never get invited to parties outside the Church, or that we can’t afford fine dinner, or we’re too boring to be anywhere. As reiterated by Bro Efren Baquing who gave the opening remarks, we were present at the assembly because God’s will got the better of us, not because we didn’t have anything better to do. We are given choices and the free will to choose what we want. And we are taught that there are no gray areas. Only black and white, ugly and pretty, good and bad. What makes choosing to be here at the KKTK assembly worthwhile is the fact that we could have gone to someplace else but chose to do that which is expected of us. Then again we hope and pray that for the rest of us who had to work that night, we would love to catch up with them next time God willing.
One of the night’s highlights was the gift “grabbing”, creating our own version of the world’s overly commercialized gift-giving, but tweaking it just right to make it Christian. Despite the pun, our gift ‘grabbing’ was more meaningful in that the other person gives away what he or she would have wanted for herself, say, a pair of speakers for that matter. And Sis Lea walked away with that (haha).

We capped the night with a message from Bro Robert Navoa who stressed on our campaign to help Bro Eli with the global evangelization project. The annual KKTK assembly should not be something we just had to get over and done with, have a little fun and go home without an inkling of what the assembly was about. It should be an opportune time for each one of us to reflect and assess where we stand in terms of our faith. We are, after all, in our youth and there is no better time to help our preachers than now.
